Up until November 9th 1960, Real Madrid had played 15 home ties in the European Cup and had won them all with a combined aggregate score of 66-8. More impressively still they had won the competition outright for five seasons in a row so there was no doubting that Di Stefano, Puskas and co were the greatest club side in Europe.

By taking the chance to end Real’s amazing run and finish their monopoly on the competition this is suerly Barca’s greatest European result.
