In the 89th minute Phil Neville conceded a soft free-kick 25 yards out and when Benni McCarthy’s strike was flapped at by Tim Howard, Costinha smashed home the rebound to make it 3-2 on aggregate to send Porto into the second round and on their way to winning the trophy.

Here’s Ken Furphy again giving what could be the first ever televised teamtalk as his Watford players prepare for their FA fourth round tie against Manchester United in 1969. Watford were a third division side at the time and Machester United were the European champions but Furphy has got them sussed. If you were to believe Liverpool fans it was the greatest goal never seen. Reading fans will tell you about Robin Friday’s strike against Tranmere but Jan Molby’s finish at home to Manchester United in November 1985 has remained an unaired gem for more than a generation – until now.

Those who claim to have been at Anfield during the TV blackout of football saw the Danish player help Liverpool to a 2-1 win in the Milk Cup and have since helped the goal reach a near mythical status.

Apparently, Molby was given the only tape of the game – recorded by police surveillance cameras – and has now let it be shown for the first time. And to be fair, it’s not bad.
